Why buy second-hand or vintage ceramics?

Many ceramics are timeless.

In addition, buying second-hand is sustainable, the ceramic objects are no longer produced and are passed from hand to hand. It is therefore possible that your vintage ceramic tableware set has already been used by several families.

Vintage ceramics are unique and special. All those years that the object has already been around and still in perfect vintage condition. It says something about the quality of the products.

The most popular vintage ceramics:

The disadvantage of vintage ceramics?

Despite the high quality of ceramics, there are some disadvantages. Most ceramic objects are not dishwasher safe. Repeatedly putting them in the dishwasher can cause the colours to fade and the edges to become brittle.

Not always without traces of use. Ceramics, whether made now or 50 years ago, are simply fragile. Despite the fact that there are a lot of vintage ceramics without traces of use, it can happen that there are small chips or broken pieces. Sometimes this is manageable because it is in a place that is not visible and sometimes the product is no longer worth anything.
